Young entrepreneurs in Africa’s agrifood sector have just over a week left to apply for one of the continent’s most high-profile innovation competitions, the 7th Annual GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize.
With a 10 June deadline fast approaching, this year’s competition promises not only substantial funding but also access to top-tier mentorship, investor matchmaking, and continental exposure.
The GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize, co-founded by serial impact entrepreneur and ecosystem builder Strive Masiyiwa, offers $50,000 each to one male and one female founder who are building innovative businesses across the agri-food value chain, from seed to fork.
An additional $60,000 in Impact Awards will recognize game-changing ideas focused on job creation, food security, nutrition, and climate-smart agriculture.
Twelve finalists will be selected to participate in a live pitch competition during the upcoming Africa Food Systems Forum (AFS Forum), taking place 31 August to 5 September 2025 in Senegal. The event is one of the continent’s largest gatherings of agrifood leaders, policy-makers, and investors.
In addition to cash prizes, finalists will receive:
- Tailored mentorship and business coaching
- Access to an exclusive investor deal room
- Membership in the GoGettaz community, a growing network of Africa’s top agripreneurs
Selection Criteria
The judging panel will evaluate applicants based on the following:
- Innovation
- Market Potential & Traction
- Leadership and Management
- Social and Environmental Impact
- Sustainability and Business Model
Eligible businesses must be founded and operated in Africa and led by entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35 working within the agrifood value chain — including production, processing, logistics, agritech, and nutrition.
