For centuries, Africa’s stories were told by voices that didn’t belong to the continent. They were stories of lack, stories of struggle, and stories framed through a lens of "otherness." But the winds have shifted. Across the continent, a new generation is picking up the pen, the camera, and the microphone. They aren't just telling stories; they are reclaiming an identity.

Kessa young Pan-African Storytellers Program

In Arabic and several African dialects, the word KESSA means "story." It is also the name of a bold new movement designed to amplify the voices that resonate, connect, and transform our reality.

The KESSA Young Panafrican Storytellers Programme 2026 has officially opened its doors, and it is looking for the visionaries who will define the modern African narrative.

The Vision: More Than Words on a Page

A joint initiative of the UM6P Story School and the French-African Foundation, KESSA is a sanctuary for the "New Guard" of African creators. It is built on the belief that a well-told story can be the most powerful tool for continental transformation.

This isn’t just a workshop; it’s an incubator for narrative leadership. Whether you are a filmmaker in Lagos, a researcher in Nairobi, or a digital influencer in Casablanca, KESSA is looking for those whose work contributes to a positive, structured, and bold African future.

The Journey: Six Days of Immersive Magic in Morocco

Imagine being one of 30 laureates selected from across the continent. In March 2026, you travel to the vibrant UM6P Story School campus in Morocco for an immersive week that blurs the lines between art, technology, and strategy.

What awaits the Class of 2026?

  • Masterclasses in Narrative Mastery: From visual journalism to scientific storytelling and digital culture.

  • The Creative Lab: Hands-on workshops where you’ll dive into 360° storytelling and audiovisual production.

  • Continental Networking: You won’t just be learning; you’ll be co-creating original works (podcasts, videos, or texts) alongside the continent’s leading artistic and intellectual minds.

  • The Alumni Network: The journey doesn't end in Morocco. Laureates join a lifelong community of changemakers with access to ongoing collaborations and global visibility.

Are You the Voice KESSA is Searching For?

KESSA is looking for "The Transformers"—creators between 25 and 40 years old with at least five years of experience. They are searching for:

  • Creators: Artists, photographers, and writers.

  • Idea Makers: Scientists and researchers turning complex data into human stories.

  • Media Voices: Podcasters and journalists speaking truth to power.

  • Impact Builders: Cultural entrepreneurs and community leaders.

The Clock is Ticking

The African narrative is being rewritten in real-time. The question is: Will your voice be part of it?

Africa isn't waiting for a hero to tell its story. Africa is waiting for you.
