The World Trade Organization (WTO) is officially looking for its next cohort of visionaries. If you believe that international trade is a powerful tool for protecting the planet and improving lives, the 2026 Young Trade Leaders Programme is your platform to make an impact.
Launched in 2024, this initiative was designed to bridge the gap between global policy-makers and the next generation. As a Young Trade Leader, you won't just be a spectator; you’ll be an active contributor, bringing fresh perspectives to the WTO while building a worldwide network of like-minded peers.
Why Join the Programme?
This one-year appointment offers unparalleled access to the heart of global trade. Selected leaders will:
Go Behind the Scenes: Deepen your knowledge of how the WTO and international trade systems actually function.
Build Your Platform: Create and publish high-level content, including articles, blogs, podcasts, and social media media campaigns.
Visit Geneva: Attend an exclusive, in-person training session at the WTO headquarters.
Lead the Conversation: Coordinate a session during the prestigious WTO Public Forum.
Expert Mentorship: Receive direct guidance and advice from the WTO Secretariat.
Local Impact: Get professional support to organize trade-related activities in your home country.
Note: While this is a non-remunerated position, the WTO provides travel support for participants to attend the Public Forum in Geneva this September.
Are You the Right Fit?
The WTO is looking for exceptional individuals who meet the following criteria:
Age: Between 18 and 28 years old.
Passion: A demonstrable interest in international trade and its potential to benefit both "people and planet."
Insight: The ability to offer new ideas and innovative solutions for the future of the WTO.
