A major opportunity has opened for young African entrepreneurs in the sustainability sector. StartHub Africa, in collaboration with the European Union and Belgium (under the Global Gateway strategy), has launched the "WeWork – Green and Decent Jobs for Youth" initiative.

This 24-month program is specifically designed to empower and fund the next generation of founders building businesses in the Green and Circular Economy (CGE) within the Kampala Metropolitan area of Uganda.
This is a focused, deep-dive incubation program that offers critical support, non-dilutive grants, and intense coaching to turn early-stage prototypes into scalable, revenue-generating enterprises.
The CGE Focus: Why Green Jobs Matter
The program targets businesses that promote sustainability, use resources efficiently, and regenerate natural ecosystems. If your venture addresses waste, energy, or sustainable food, this is your platform.
Examples of eligible sectors include:
Renewable Energy and sustainable tourism.
Regenerative Agriculture and value-added processing (e.g., coffee, cocoa).
Waste-to-Product solutions (composting, bio-fertilizer, recycling).
Green Construction and eco-building materials.
What Founders Will Receive
The initiative is structured to provide high-impact, hands-on support for founders aged 18 to 35 who are committed to accelerating their growth:
Intensive Bootcamp: Selected founders will participate in a one-week residential bootcamp led by expert business trainers. This immersive session is focused on refining business models, strengthening financial skills, and mapping operational strategies.
Tailored Coaching: Those who advance to the incubation phase receive 4.5 months of personalized, one-on-one coaching focused intensely on accelerating revenue growth, increasing market access, and strengthening their potential for creating decent jobs.
Seed Grants & Awards: Outstanding founders will receive seed grants designed to unlock their next stage of growth, supporting everything from prototype refinement to operational scale-up.
Location and Eligibility
While StartHub Africa works across East Africa, this particular cohort is geographically focused to maximize local impact:
Geographical Focus: Kampala Metropolitan area (Kampala, Wakiso, and Mukono).
Applicant Profile: Young entrepreneurs (18–35) with a working prototype or clear proof of concept in a Green or Circular Economy business.
